The left is on the rise among young voters, according to a survey, while the Macronists are dropping out. This is what the result of the European elections could look like among 18-34 year olds.

Who will young people vote for on June 9? The voting intentions of 18-34 year olds in the 2024 European elections reveal trends that are very different from those predicted for all voters. If the list of the National Rally, led by Jordan Bardella, remains favorite within this age group, that of the Macronists, led by Valérie Hayer, is seriously lagging behind the left.

27% of voters aged 18 to 34 intend to vote for the National Rally on June 9, according to an Elabe poll published on May 4. Jordan Bardella’s list is therefore announced victorious in this age category, but with a smaller lead than for the entire electorate, for which it is credited with 32%. In second place among young people, it is the list of Manon Aubry, for La France insoumise, which appeals the most, with 17% of voting intentions, compared to only 8.5% of all respondents.

Two parties without deputies?

On the other hand, Valérie Hayer’s Macronist list only comes in… fifth position, with only 9%. Young people prefer that of the ecologists of Marie Toussaint (14%) and the socialist party allied to Place Publique of Raphaël Glucksmann (10%). The Republicans, for their part, have 6% voting intentions among young people, a figure similar to that measured among all respondents (6.5%).

Two parties, finally, barely meet the eligibility threshold set at 5% for the European elections in this survey: 5% of young people questioned intend to vote for the communist list of Léon Deffontaines, which is only given to 2% across the entire electorate. 5% of 18-34 year olds also say they support the Reconquête list led by Marion Maréchal, a proportion which is similar across all age groups.
