A car and a heavy goods vehicle collided on the departmental road of Thibouville (Eure) Monday May 6, 2024. The car caught fire and two people died. The passengers are seriously injured.

A terrible road accident occurred on the RD613 departmental road Monday afternoon near Thibouville, between Évreux and Lisieux. A truck and a car, with four people inside, collided.

The collision was so violent between the two vehicles that the car caught fire. When they arrived on site, firefighters found two charred bodies: a 64-year-old woman and a body whose identity has not yet been identified, were deceased.

Two other passengers in the car were seriously injured: a 65-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman. One was transported to Rouen University Hospital and the second to Évreux University Hospital.

The driver of the truck, a 69-year-old man who was transporting sheep, escaped unhurt.

The road was closed to traffic in both directions and diversions were put in place during the intervention. 32 firefighters were mobilized.

The circumstances of the accident are not yet known.
