Only three candidates left for the takeover of Atos, the struggling French IT giant

While the French IT group Atos finds itself in serious financial difficulty, the former flagship of the sector has received four proposals for its rescue. Atos has already ruled out one, that of the American investment fund Bain Capital, and has given itself until May 31 to choose. The symbol of “ French Tech » must be one of the technological pillars of the Paris Olympic Games this summer.

It now remains three buyout offers on the table. The first comes from the group of banks and creditors of Atos. The second comes from One Point, a company controlled by David Layani, also the main shareholder of Atos. Finally, the last offer is that of EP Equity Investment, the fund controlled by Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinskymedia shareholder (Marianne, She…) and owner of supermarkets (Casino, Franprix, among others).

The Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire recalled that the objective was to avoid that “ strategic activities for France do not pass into the hands of foreign actors “. These sovereign activities also represent tens of thousands of jobs.

Each of the three candidates has assets to save Atos from bankruptcy. The group employs more than 100,000 people worldwide, and its stock has lost more than 50% of its value since the start of the year.
