The head of the list of the Macronist majority in the European elections Valérie Hayer believes that China is committing “a genocide” against the Muslim minority of the Uyghurs and called for “a dialogue of truth” with Chinese President Xi Jinping, on a state visit to France.

“The situation of the Uyghurs is unbearable and this is why we must have a dialogue of truth with the Chinese president,” she added.
“We in the European Parliament have had the opportunity on several occasions to adopt resolutions condemning the situation of the Uighurs and we have mobilized in particular to prohibit forced labor”she recalled.
On the business side, Ms. Hayer recognizes “that we have been too naive with China for too long” but assured that the EU was “changing gear”.
