An octogenarian dies in an accident in Champéon

An accident left one dead and one injured on Sunday May 5, 2024. A car collided with a motorhome parked in Champéon (Mayenne).

An accident occurred in the town of Champéon (Mayenne), Sunday May 5, 2024 in the early morning. A car hit a camper van parked on the side of the road at 4:42 a.m.

The driver of the car, a man in his twenties, was injured. He was transported to the Mayenne hospital center. The owner of the motorhome died while standing next to the vehicle.

An open investigation

The events occurred on the RN12, at the place called La Petite Roderie, near the octogenarian’s home. “The camper van was completely gutted by the impact, it was parked in front of its owner’s house,” explains Christian Sabran, the mayor of Champéon.

Twelve firefighters were mobilized to the scene. An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie to determine the circumstances of the accident.
