Murders of Leslie and Kévin: a reconstruction will attempt to resolve the last gray areas

Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kévin Trompat were murdered on the night of November 25, 2022, in Prahecq, in Deux-Sèvres.

A reconstruction will take place starting next night, in the presence of the suspects.

If they partly admitted the facts, the investigation must still determine the responsibilities of each and the motive for the crime.

Missing in Deux-Sèvres, Leslie and Kevin found dead

In Deux-Sèvres, the town of Prahecq remains marked by the assassination (new window) by Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kévin Trompat. Aged 22 and 21 respectively, they disappeared in November 2022, before their bodies were found four months later a few dozen kilometers further, in Puyravault, in Charente-Maritime. For the purposes of the investigation, a reconstruction will take place this week, for two nights, between October 2 and 4.

The emotion of the victims’ loved ones

In Prahecq, residents impatiently await this reconstruction: “I really hate it. I hope from the bottom of my heart that those who did this stay in prison until the end of their lives”assures the TF1 news Michel Acheghane, Kévin Trompat’s boxing coach. Then he becomes the spokesperson for the young man’s father (new window) : “He’s a shadow of himself because his son was his eyes, his life. He did everything with his son.”

Leslie Hoorelbeke’s parents will not be present at the reconstitution: “For us, it is something unthinkable to find ourselves next to the perpetrators and to hear them say the abominations they may have committed. It is beyond our capabilities”testifies his mother on the phone.

Five suspects (new window) were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention. Tomorrow, they will be brought back to the house where they are suspected of having set a trap for the two victims. There are still many gray areas, as shown in the TF1 news video at the top of this article. The only certainty: the events were extremely violent.

A motive around drug trafficking?

While he was going to sleep at the house of a friend, Tom Trouillet, now the main suspect, the couple were allegedly beaten with a hammer and a machete by a very well-organized commando. Two possible motives emerge. Kévin owed his friend 30,000 euros, against a backdrop of drug trafficking. Another possibility, of a sentimental nature: Tom was in love with Leslie.

Théo, Kévin’s best friend, is convinced of Tom’s guilt: “He had the recipe for the whole plan. All the people who were arrested are his friends. For me, he is the master.” According to him, only drug trafficking could have led him to commit these acts.

The reconstruction will therefore have to answer the questions of those close to Leslie and Kévin: “Today, everyone has more or less admitted their participation in the facts. The objective now is to determine who carried out which blows with which weapons and who ultimately carried out the fatal blows”explains Me Orane Quénot, lawyer for Nathan Badji, one of those indicted. In Prahecq, around sixty gendarmes will be mobilized to ensure the security of this reconstruction.
