Thirteen people were taken into custody on Tuesday April 30 in connection with the double murder in Pont-Saint-Esprit.

In the case of the double murder of Pont-Saint-Esprit, which occurred on the night of October 28 to 29, 2023, the public prosecutor Cécile Gensac informed on Tuesday April 30 of the placement in police custody of 13 people, under the direction of the investigating judge.

Eight people (seven men and one woman, all aged around twenty) were presented before the investigating judge on Thursday May 2 and Friday May 3. At the request of the public prosecutor, they were placed in pre-trial detention by the judge of freedoms and detention.

They dispute their participation in these facts. However, the investigating magistrate considering that there is serious and consistent evidence against them, decided to indict them on counts of murder by an organized gang, attempted murder by an organized gang, carrying, transporting, possession of weapons of category A and B, organized gang damage to property by means dangerous to people as well as participation in a criminal association with a view to committing a crime.

Investigations are continuing to determine the precise role of each. As a reminder, a shooting took place near the Coq fountain. Two people, one injured in the head, the other in the chest, died, two others were injured.
