A white walk is organized, Saturday May 4 in the afternoon, to pay tribute to the young Matisse, 15, killed by a teenager of the same age on April 27. A parade in which 3,000 to 10,000 people are expected. According to the prefect of Indre, Thibault Lanxade, guest of RTL, the procession “will leave from Place de Lafayette”, and will pass “in front of the restaurant of Matisse’s father. This route will take place in the city center of Châteauroux. There will also be “readings not far from Matisse’s school”, specifies the prefect.

While the teenager’s family refuses any political recovery, several figures from the right and the far right have denounced the government’s migration policy, since the young person and his mother involved in the tragedy are of Afghan origin, in a legal situation. According to the prefect, “everything must be done so that this white march can be calm”, faced with the potential risks around the procession from identitarians. “We will be attentive to ensuring that this white march can take place in accordance with the wishes of the family,” said Thibault Lanxade.

Also, “a system (was) adapted to this event”confirmed the prefect, with checks upstream of Châteauroux, and “that the system be reinforced and discreet to ensure that this white march can be totally focused on the memory of Matisse.
