Elyakim Libman, believed to have been kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, was declared dead after his body was found in Israel.

The IDF says military representatives, as well as members of the Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Ministry of Health, informed Elyakim Libman’s family of the results of the investigation on Friday. Libman’s death was the result of “findings made following a complex investigation” carried out by the IDF, the police, the Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Ministry of Health, the army said.

Libman was working as a security guard at the Supernova rave on October 7 when Hamas terrorists launched their assault. According to his family, Libman remained there for hours treating other injured people, when he could have fled, before being killed. The young man was presumed to be a hostage after October 7, because his body was not found there. According to Israeli media, his remains were mistakenly buried alongside another Nova festival victim. The number of hostages captured on October 7 thus increased from 253 to 252 and that of hostages alive or dead still in Gaza from 133 to 132.
