Last Saturday, a fire ravaged the Demeco warehouse, located in La Seyne. Very quickly, the 600m² of the moving company were destroyed by flames. Inside, the establishment stored boxes.
On site, no indication of the origin of the disaster was given. A few days later, we know more about the causes of the incident.
It would in fact come from the clumsiness of an employee. Placed in police custody for damage by unintentional fire, he was released.
During his interrogation, the employee explained to the police that he “wanted to light a barbecue”.
A version corroborated by the police after finding residue present on site.
Seeing the fire growing, the latter desperately tried to put it out with his hands, causing burns. It was only a few hours later that the fire was extinguished by firefighters.
