The family of Philippine, a young student killed in Paris and whose body was found on Saturday September 21 in the Bois de Boulogne, met the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleauthis Tuesday, October 1, BFMTV learned.
The meeting took place this Tuesday, October 1, in the afternoon, just after Bruno Retailleau went to the National Assembly for Michel Barnier’s general policy declaration. The minister went to Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines), to the home of the victim’s family.
“Develop our legal arsenal”
After this murder which aroused strong emotion, the new minister had communicated in recent days his desire to “evolve our legal arsenal”, while the main suspect arrested in Switzerland was under an obligation to leave the territory French and was convicted of rape in 2022.
“Faced with such a tragedy, preceded by many others, we cannot simply deplore or be outraged,” he declared in a press release. “It is up to us, public officials, to refuse the fatality and to develop our legal arsenal to protect the French.”
“If we need to change the rules, let’s change them. Together, with the Minister of Justice, within the scope of our respective responsibilities, and under the authority of the Prime Minister, we will have to work to ensure the security of our compatriots” , estimated the Minister of the Interior.
MPs and members of the government observed a minute of silence this Tuesday in tribute to Philippine before the general policy statement of Prime Minister Michel Barnier, at the request of the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet.
