drinking water was cut off in the street!

The Brussels firefighters, the Brussels Midi police zone, Vivaqua and Silbega had to intervene together, this Thursday around 6:30 p.m., for a collapse of the road at rue de Bordeaux in Saint-Gilles. “A parked car ended up half in the gaping hole,” said the fire department spokesperson. “The cause of the incident is probably a water leak. The car was pulled out of the hole by our crane.”

Another consequence of the disaster: “drinking water was cut off in the street. Temporary water points have been installed by Vivaqua, who will also repair the roadway. Sibelga checked the gas and electricity pipes but there was no damage. The street is closed to traffic.”

A new incident – Brussels Fire Brigade

This incident adds to an already long series of subsidences and collapses in Brussels roads either due to water leaks or the obsolescence of the sewers. As a reminder, no less than 225 kilometers of sewers are threatened with collapse in Brussels!
