Selon Jacques Gravereau, Beijing is suffering « a recurring cultural blockage when it comes to understanding the mentality of one’s adversaries ». Thanks to him, the West does not risk falling into the same faults: under his pen, the meanders of the Chinese soul are illuminated with a crystalline light… We thus learn as we read that China « vomit[t] America and its allies », « claim[t] » Western liberalism and suffers from « resentment ». On such bases, the question of the Taiwan Strait, one of the most threatening points of geopolitical tension for world peace, becomes crystal clear. On the one hand, the United States, which is leading « “freedom of navigation” operations » several thousand kilometers from their coasts. On the other, a China which indulges in « gesticulations », au « blackmail » and to « military intimidation (…) thunderous ». A children’s story that could disappoint readers who have read the back cover. Gravereau is described there as « one of the great European experts on contemporary Asia ».
