Windows 10 is so popular that Windows 11 users are switching back to it

The latest Windows 11 adoption numbers aren’t pretty. While it should be eating away at Windows 10, the opposite is ultimately happening. Over the last month, the old version of the OS has indeed gained users… unlike its descendant.

Several years after its release, Windows 11 is struggling to get its user base off the ground. For several months, adoption figures have stagnated, while Windows 10 continues to reign supreme in the Microsoft ecosystem. However, it is not the fault of the company to advertise its latest addition wherever it can. Nothing new under the sun a priori therefore, except that in April 2024, the trend has somewhat hardened.

According to StatCounter, 25.65% of users were on Windows 11 last month. However, they were 26.68% in March. Windows 11 therefore lost a large number of users in just a few weeks. Where have these gone? Some have probably made the choice to completely leave the ecosystem by taking refuge with . But, you guessed it, many have decided to return to Windows 10.

On the same subject —But where did Windows 9 go? Here’s the real reason behind switching to Windows 10

Windows 11 fails to attract Windows 10 users

During the month of April, the share of Windows users increased from 69.07% to 70.03%. You don’t have to look far to see where these new users are coming from. It’s difficult to say with certainty that they tried the Windows 11 adventure before turning back. thing is certain, however: even Windows 8 at the time, although frankly hated by those who installed it, did not lose users before the arrival of Windows 10.

It would therefore be an understatement to say that Windows 11 does not convince. Despite its many features dedicated to gaming and the gradual arrival of artificial intelligence, it must be admitted that the difference with Windows 10 is relatively minor for the majority of users. Microsoft is currently at an impasse. Copilot, its next revolution on Windows, could well encourage more users to upgrade to the latest version of the OS. But can the firm do without 70% of them?
