In the Sept-Chutes regional park, this trail will take you 600 meters high to the summit of Mont Brassard, passing rocky capes and lookouts. We sometimes forget it, but the Lanaudière region is home to a large part of the famous Mont-Tremblant National Park. It actually claims two thirds of its surface area, notably the Pimbina – Saint-Donat sector. We recommend the Envol trail. Don’t be fooled by its short length, this trail is relatively steep and will allow you to gain height without ever leaving the ground. All you have to do is reach the summit of Mont de l’Envol to admire the magnificent views of Lakes Lajoie and Provost as well as the hilly region of Saint-Donat. A perfect hike for families!

3. Le Desjardins Trail – Monte-à-Peine-et-des-Dalles Falls Park

The Desjardins is undoubtedly the most interesting trail to sample all the pleasures that this regional park offers. Along the L’Assomption River, it has three falls, a canyon, two suspension bridges, a beaver pond and a mixed forest where old pines and maples are rooted. In addition, a 17-kilometer circuit, with the possibility of picnicking and swimming (at your own risk), allows you to explore the entire park, according to your wishes of the moment.

4. The Black Mountain – Saint-Donat

Perched at an altitude of 887 meters, Montagne Noire is the highest mountain in Saint-Donat. Part of the Inter-Centre and the National Trail, the Montagne Noire trail (6.4 km) climbs to the ridge and allows you to see the debris of the Liberator Harrya military plane which crashed there in 1943. At the top, the view from the viewpoint is also worth the effort!

5. Sentier du Massif – National trail, Ouareau Forest Park

To immerse yourself in the Matawinian forest, the National Trail undoubtedly offers the ideal experience. Those who do not wish to travel its 170 kilometers can explore the Massif section, located in the Forêt Ouareau regional park, which is a pleasant foretaste. It will take you through its woods dotted with erratic boulders and to the ascent of a few modest peaks offering a view of the multitude of lakes and mountains present in the area. Two routes are possible, either the linear option of 26 km or the shorter one, consisting of a 12.5 km loop. The terrain is rather uneven and therefore requires greater effort.
