A police officer opened fire on a driver Monday evening in Livry-Gargan, after the latter refused to comply with a check and ran over the official’s foot. The suspect managed to flee and an investigation is underway.

The events occurred shortly after 10 p.m. when police officers on patrol spotted a motorist at the wheel of a powerful German Porsche convertible making dangerous maneuvers on Boulevard de l’Europe. The driver then stopped at a red light, giving law enforcement the opportunity to stop him.

One of the officers then approached the vehicle and asked the driver to turn off the ignition., but the latter suddenly restarted, running over the policeman’s foot. Fearing being dragged away by the vehicle, the official responded by firing a shot as reported by Actu17.

The victim (the police officer) was injured in the foot and taken to hospital to undergo examinations.. However, his condition does not cause concern. The driver, for his part, managed to flee despite the searches undertaken by the police during the night.

An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Livry-Gargan police station in order to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and identify the suspect. Images from CCTV cameras in the area are also being used.
