Portneuf: fire in a golf club building

A fire razed part of the facilities of the Le Grand Portneuf Golf Club on Tuesday in Saint-Basile.

Local firefighters were alerted around 5:26 p.m. for a fire in a building that houses the carts near the entrance to the golf course.

The fire risked spreading to a wooded area so they asked for reinforcements from firefighters from the municipalities of Saint-Raymond and Pont-Rouge to put it out.

The Sûreté du Québec confirms that the criminal theory has been ruled out. It would therefore be an accident. No one was injured during the events.

Open Wednesday

On its social networks, the Le Grand Portneuf Golf Club confirmed that the flames reduced the golf cart garage to ashes.

“Our fleet for the day was outside… fortunately,” said the organization in a publication written Wednesday morning.

Despite the damage, the club assures its members that it remains fully operational following the fire. “We are in reconstruction mode,” he continues in writing.
