This Wednesday Labor Day is celebrated, also this morning in the Parish of Saint-Joseph the Worker in Camélias. Computers, pens or even uniforms, hundreds of faithful were able to bless their work tools.

A solemn moment in the parish of Saint-Joseph, patron saint of carpenters and hardworking craftsmen. The faithful came in numbers to pray and have their tools blessed. “There have been signs in my life that have made me believe that St. Joseph is everything to us. I can’t really explain it, you have to live it and really feel it“, explains a faithful.

If this Wednesday, May 1st, we took for all the workers, today is also a special day for the parish. It is celebrating its 60th anniversary, years steeped in history for the faithful. “I have been in this parish since I got married, my children were altar boys here. This parish represents a large part of my life as a committed Christian.“, confides a parishioner.

While the city of Saint-Denis developed, on May 1, 1964, Mgr Georges Guibert inaugurated the parish, his successor even introduced Basque pelota to Reunion. “We pray today for all those who work or are looking for a job or who sometimes experience difficult things in their profession“, explains Mgr Pascal Chane-Teng Bishop of Reunion.

This Wednesday, parishioners and former parish priests meet around lunch. There are 270 of them chatting around a good curry.
