Montpellier HSC will have to deal with two major absences for its next Ligue 1 matches after the suspension of Arnaud Nordin and Lucas Mincarelli for two matches each.

The sanctions, decided by the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP), follow their expulsion during the match against Nantes. Striker Arnaud Nordin was sent off for a gesture deemed dangerous, a foot in the face of Nicolas Cozza, while left back Lucas Mincarelli received a red card for a foul on Bénie Traoré. These events occurred during the 1-1 draw against the Canaris, a key meeting in the race to maintain the MHSC.

A complicated end to the season for Montpellier

This double suspension comes at a critical time of the season, Montpellier being 12th and eight points ahead of the play-off, with only three days remaining. The next matches against Toulouse and Monaco will therefore be played without these two key players, which could complicate the coach’s plans to ensure a peaceful end to the season. Maintaining it, however, is within reach for Téji Savanier’s comrades.

The disciplinary committee also announced other sanctions, including suspensions for several Ligue 1 players for accumulation of warnings or expulsions. Among them, Leonardo Balerdi of Olympique de Marseille, Azor Matusiwa and Martin Terrier of Rennes, Takumi Minamino of Monaco, Elye Wahi of Lens and Thibault De Smet of Reims, the latter suspended for an expulsion during a match against Clermont .
