Villefranche won 27-26 against Pia this Sunday during the 2nd day of Super XIII, at the end of a stunning encounter.
After a heavy defeat in Carcassonne for its first match in Super XIII, Villefranche wants to relaunch with the reception of Pia. Matthieu Bassin launched the Wolves perfectly with a try in the 4th minute. Alan Baby brings the Baroudeurs back up to par while both teams miss the transformation, 4 all.
At the end of the first act, the Aveyronnais took the advantage thanks to a penalty from Morgan Andral after a high tackle on Pierre Carivenc. At the break, Villefranche leads 6-4.
A crazy second act
The start of the second act is completely to the advantage of the Wolves who will score three tries in 15 minutes. Matthieu Bassin scores a double and then it’s Pierre Carivenc who tries. Rookie Dredin Sorensen then scores to make the break. Morgan Andral transforms the three tries, 24 to 4.
Morgan Andral adds two points on a penalty but Pia will finally wake up in this second act. François Thérésin then Erwan Mathe scored to revive the Pianencs. With conversions, the score is 26-16.
While Villefranche seemed to hold on to its victory, the Baroudeurs scored twice more to snatch extra time. Arnaud Bartes then Hakim Miloudi, for his first with Pia, are the scorers. 26 everywhere and it is therefore at the golden point that the decision will be made.
Villefranche finally snatched the victory 27-26 thanks to Romain Pallares’ drop while Pia had to settle for the bonus.
