Participants in the memorial tour gathered around 7:00 a.m. at Sechseläuten Square, in a collected atmosphere, noted a journalist from Keystone-ATS. Some had tears in their eyes, others comforted themselves with a hug.

Among those present were David Lappartient, president of the International Federation (UCI) and candidate for IOC presidency, as well as Swiss professional runners.

After a minute of silence, the cyclists paraded along the World Championships route, first through the city center. Only the rolling of the pedals was audible.

A place of contemplation was set up near the Wasserkirche church in Zurich, where wreaths, flowers and a photo of the deceased were placed. The popular race which was to take place this Sunday was canceled and replaced by this “Memorial Ride”.
