Jared Kushner, son-in-law and former senior advisor to Donald Trump, spoke out on the situation in the Middle East following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah by Israel. In a rare public comment, Kushner rejected calls for a ceasefire issued by the Biden administration and stressed the need for Israel to continue its offensive. “Anyone calling for a ceasefire in the north is wrong. There is no turning back for Israel. They cannot afford now to not finish the job and completely dismantle the arsenal that was pointed at them. They’ll never get another chance,” Kushner tweeted.

He called September 27, the date of Nasrallah’s elimination, “the most important day in the Middle East since the breakthrough of the Abraham Accords.” Kushner argued that Iran is now “totally exposed” and that Hezbollah has long served as a “loaded gun pointed at Israel” to deter attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

“Israel now finds itself with the threat from Gaza largely neutralized and the opportunity to neutralize Hezbollah to the north,” he continued. “Failing to take full advantage of this opportunity to neutralize the threat is irresponsible.” The former adviser called on the United States to support Israel in this endeavour: “The right decision for America now would be to tell Israel to finish the job. This is long overdue. And it’s not just Israel’s fight,” adding that Hezbollah has the blood of hundreds of Americans on its hands.

These statements were quickly echoed by other influential pro-Trump figures, including former Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and Wyoming Senator John Barrosso. Although Kushner has said he has no plans to return to the White House if his father-in-law is re-elected, his voice still carries weight among Trump supporters.
