In September 2027, 400 Mayenne schoolchildren will settle in a brand new establishment, on the Jean Monnet site in Laval, at the foot of the railway viaduct and just opposite the river. The Mayenne departmental council has decided, for the sum of 14 million euros, to move the Fernand Puech college, rue Crossardière, to much more suitable locations.
But some of the staff, the teachers in the lead, regret the lack of consultation on future reception, working and learning conditions: “We participated in three participatory workshops but they were very directed. We were never able to put forward our ideas. There were no exchanges or debates” confides a Spanish teacher in Puech for over 20 years.

The teachers are mainly asking for a multi-activity room in addition to the gymnasium for PE classes, a site to be renovated along the way, and a multimedia room in place of a virtual reality space planned in the project.
The Department assures that everything is not yet set in stone, a new consultation meeting must take place soon, after the Easter holidays.
