The investigation is progressing after the tragic stabbing death of young Matisse in Châteauroux on Saturday. A 15-year-old teenager was indicted Monday evening for “murder” and placed in pre-trial detention, the prosecutor’s office announced Monday.

His mother, aged 37, was indicted for “intentional violence” against a “vulnerable person”, and placed under judicial supervision, said the Bourges public prosecutor, Céline Visiedo, who took over the case. The mother “slapped the victim”, she added.

“A brawl”, according to the prosecution

Both mother and son are “of Afghan nationality and legally resident in the national territory”, according to the same Source. They were presented at the end of the afternoon before an investigating judge from the criminal division of the Bourges judicial court.

The young Matisse, aged 16 according to the prosecutor, succumbed to his injuries, in particular a wound to the heart, after “a brawl involving two minors” late Saturday afternoon in the St-Denis district of this commune of some 43,000 inhabitants. According to the first elements of the investigation, “the two minors knew each other and had insulted each other before the events,” said the prosecution.

On the day of the murder, the minor indicted claims that he received a punch from the victim and that “seized by anger, he went to his building to grab a blade.” knife, and inflicted several stab wounds” on Matisse before fleeing, detailed the magistrate. The investigation will notably have to “clarify the origin of the brawl and the personality of the author” of the fatal blows.

Matisse’s father does not want political recovery

This minor has no convictions on his criminal record but he was indicted on April 22 for violent theft in a meeting by a judge in Châteauroux. He had been placed under judicial supervision.

While several right-wing and far-right personalities have denounced the government’s “migratory policy” due to the Afghan nationality of the perpetrator of the attacks, Matisse’s father, Christophe Marchais, warned against any political recovery. “Let’s not mix things up. Be careful of all the parties on the right or elsewhere who appropriate this kind of thing,” he declared on RTL.
