Dordogne: she pretends to be the driver in an accident to save her alcoholic brother without a license

A Peugeot 307 in the ditch, a woman, a man. When the gendarmes arrived on Saturday April 27 at the end of the day on the D933, in the bend at the exit of the village, the sister rushed at them. She says she was driving, she lost control. This is not what the witnesses to the accident say, and it was his brother who was convicted this Monday, April 29 before the court.

His license already canceled by the courts, without insurance, the 40-year-old man got behind the wheel of his car dead drunk that evening, after having drunk ten beers at the Le Tarot bar in Bergerac. When he overtakes a car while driving too fast, in the middle of a storm with running down the road, he loses control. It’s that simple.

Ten beers before heading into the storm

What is less obvious is how the driver’s sister and her companion found themselves so quickly at the scene of the accident. The sister, who herself says that she “would do anything for him”lies to cover for his brother. “I didn’t think it would go this far.”, said the man at the bar. THE witnesses clearly saw that he was alone at the time of the accidentand that his sister only joined him afterwards.

Controlled at monumental rate of 1.66 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, he is already a repeat offender of numerous traffic offenses. He is also an alcoholic, although he is self-medicating. The court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison, including one year with a probationary suspension which requires him to seek treatment and work.
