Living at the campsite: another dimension of poor housing

Living at the campsite: another dimension of poor housing
Descriptive text here

Sweden, Kingdom, Greece, … Many developed countries are facing a housing crisis. The cause is the surge in real estate prices accentuated by overtourism and insufficient construction.

A problem that does not only affect big cities. In the United Kingdom, for example, the number of homeless people has increased by 40% in five years in rural areas and medium-sized towns. In France, nearly 100,000 people are turning to “residential camping”. A phenomenon that echoes trailers in the United States, these Americans forced to live in their caravan. Who are these campsite inhabitants?

An interview with Loïc PialatRFI correspondent in Los Angeles to talk about the housing crisis in California which is pushing more and more Americans to live in caravans.

And in the second part, a report fromAmira SouilemRFI correspondent in Tunis, Tunisia.

This is a phenomenon that was almost non-existent just a few years ago. The more the crisis gets bogged down, the more homeless people appear on the sidewalks of the Tunisian capital, the sign of a society where traditional family solidarity is no longer enough to remedy the dropout of some people. It is in this context that a solidarity restaurant – “le restau d’amour” decided to use its profits to help the homeless in Tunis. By carrying out marauding raids during which meals are distributed, they hope to bring them a little physical and human warmth.
