The judgment rendered this Thursday, September 26, by the investigating chamber of the Court of Appeal, puts an end to more than three years of investigation with twists and turns. Cédric Jubillar, 37, is therefore referred to court for the murder of his wife, Delphine Jubillar, who disappeared on the night of December 15 to 16, 2020, in Cagnac-les-Mines (Tarn). The body of this 33-year-old nurse was never found. A popular jury will now look into this case, probably in the second half of 2025, in . Cédric Jubillar has been placed in pre-trial detention since June 18, 2021.

Today, the courts consider that there are enough charges to refer the plasterboard painter to criminal jurisdiction. A decision in accordance with the requisitions of the attorney general who, on June 20, requested the referral of this man to an assize court. However, gray areas remain: no body, absence of crime scene, no confession. This singularity precipitates this affair into the throes of doubt.

Only one motive, the common thread of this entire investigation, designates Cédric Jubillar as the sole suspect. His wife had a lover with whom she had to rebuild her life. Her husband, described as “jealous and impulsive”, would have taken the separation plan badly. The defense, represented by Mes Alexandre Martin, Emmanuelle Franck and Jean-Baptiste Alary, denounces “the fabrication, from scratch, of a guilty person”. Assertion swept aside by the civil parties, relieved, and for whom the referral of Cédric Jubillar to court is the logical and natural continuation of a procedure which has lasted too long.

After reading the judgment of the investigating chamber, here are the charges brought by the courts:

Jealousy and “inappropriate” behavior of the husband

According to the investigation, Cédric Jubillar never looked for his wife. He had a very difficult time with the planned separation and spied on his wife who hid the existence of a lover from him. He is described as “jealous”, “impulsive”, by numerous witnesses. Added to these descriptions are threats made against his wife and reported by third parties. “I’m going to kill her,” he said, repeatedly. Words that he considers to have been spoken out of anger.

Screams in the night and broken glasses

On December 15, 2020, around 11:07 p.m., cries of “fear and dread” were heard in the direction of the Jubillar pavilion, by two neighbors, a mother and her daughter, who were outside their house located 150 meters. These cries lasted several minutes and coincided, according to the prosecution, with an argument within the couple, of which the son, Louis, 6 years old, was the sole witness. Delphine Jubillar’s pair of broken glasses are found in the house.

The testimony of the couple’s child

During his third hearing, Louis, aged 6, described, in front of the two investigating judges, a scene which could be compared to an argument, and which he would have witnessed through a half-open door. His mother would have told Cédric “Stop!”

The couple’s car

The 207 Peugeot vehicle parked in front of the Jubillar house, rue Yves-Montand, apparently changed direction during the night. This is what at least three witnesses, including a neighbor, say. For investigators, the car used by Delphine Jubillar was used during the night to transport her body and drop it off at a location that the husband had already thought of.

Delphine Jubillar’s phone was never found, but the manufacturer of the model gave valuable information to investigators.

Telephony

According to investigators who examined Cédric Jubillar’s cell phone, the use of this device that night was not the same as the previous nights. A change of habit necessarily suspicious according to investigators who also noted contradictions in the craftsman’s statements.

All these points are contested by Cédric Jubillar who always indicated that he went to bed shortly after 10 p.m. and woke up around 3:45 a.m., on December 16, 2020, before noticing the disappearance of his wife, “gone to walk the dogs” .

It remains for the courts to organize this lengthy trial which could last three weeks, probably in the second half of 2025.
