Director Nicolas Bedos tried for assault and sexual harassment of three women in Paris

Nicolas Bedos is on trial, Thursday September 26, 2024, at the Paris Criminal Court, indicates AFP, relayed by The Telegram. The 45-year-old actor and director is involved in three separate cases and accused of assault and sexual harassment by three women.

Woman’s complaint of sexual assault in a nightclub

According to his lawyer, the actor will be present during the hearing. Among the files presented to the court are the accusations of a complainant for facts dating back to the night of June 1 to 2, 2023.

That evening, she claims that the director stretched his hand to her private partsabove his jeans, during an evening in a nightclub. He was then placed in police custody.

His lawyer then declared that he had “no memory” of such a gesture which “could only have been accidental under the influence of intoxication”.

Statements from two other women

By speaking out, this first complainant pushed others to also take legal action. “She had the courage to denounce the sexual assault of which she was a victim, which allowed other women to recognize themselves and find the courage to speak,” said her lawyer.

The trial was scheduled to take place in February 2024, but was postponed to examine the testimonies of two other women, who did not file a complaint.

One of them is a waitress in a bar. She explains having been grabbed by the waist and kissed on the neck by Nicolas Bedos on the night of May 11 to 12, 2023. The director was under the influence of alcohol.

Another woman says that he touched her stomach before trying to kiss her after following her to the bathroom in June 2018. In this case, Nicolas Bedos is being prosecuted for sexual harassment.

At the same time as this trial, the director and actor is also the subject of a preliminary investigation for rape and sexual assault. Opened in July 2023, it concerns facts which allegedly took place in 1999 and 2017, according to testimonies revealed by Médiapart.
