Driver with Racing Bulls (ex-Alpha Tauri) since the start of the 2023 season, Daniel Ricciardo has been dismissed by the Red Bull subsidiary team. The Singapore Grand Prix, where the Australian finished 18th, was the last of the season for the 35-year-old driver. Liam Lawson will therefore replace Ricciardo in the RB seat for the 6 remaining races in 2024.

F1 clap for Daniel Ricciardo at Racing Bulls. The 35-year-old Australian driver was removed by the Red Bull subsidiary team after the Singapore Grand Prix. The former Renault driver did not have an excellent weekend there with an elimination in the first qualifying session (16th on the grid) and an 18th place acquired in the main race. Positive point, Ricciardo managed to take away the point for the best lap from Lando Norris, as a symbol for his potential last Grand Prix of his career. But one Oceanian can hide another. The Australian will be replaced by New Zealander Liam Lawson, a 22-year-old young driver and member of the Red Bull Junior Team.

Lawson had already driven in Formula 1 last season to replace the same Ricciardo whom he will replace from the United States Grand Prix on October 20. In a press release published on the team’s website, Laurent Mekies, director of the VCARB team, justifies the choice of having opted for Lawson “ He already knows the team well. He drove for us last season and handled the difficult circumstances well. The transition will therefore happen naturally. It’s great to see young talents from the Red Bull family taking the next step ».

The Frenchman also salutes Daniel Ricciardo: “ He brought a lot of experience and talent to the team with a fantastic attitude, which helped everyone develop and foster a close-knit team spirit. Daniel (…) will be missed, but will always hold a special place within the Red Bull family ».
