From the Choqueuse forest to Coulommiers via Faremoutiers or Saâcy-sur-, the Briard plateau is once again under water following the torrential rains which poured into the north of Seine-et-Marne this Thursday September 26, 2024. Less than two months after the floods that residents have still not finished mopping up in the Sablonnières territory, bad weather is causing the Morin to rise, placed on orange alert.

Result: impassable roads diverted by the authorities and considerably extended travel times. And not just for motorists.

A catastrophic journey

“I took the train from at 2:17 p.m. to return to Coulommiers. It’s usually a one-hour journey but we got off at Marolles-en-Brie station, in the middle of nowhere, says a user. No bus or other alternative to get to Coulommiers. I waited for two hours, in torrential rain. I saw the water in the pipes rising before a bus arrived. Except that it took 1h15 to reach Coulommiers station after diversions and U-turns. »

And to conclude: “I understand that there are floods. But it took me almost four hours to get back. A catastrophic journey! It’s absolutely scandalous that this isn’t better organized. As a user, I felt completely abandoned.”
