“All the big agri-food companies released margins of up to 15 or 20% during the crisis and while consumers had to pay increases in pasta or increases in items of 30 to 40%,” lamented Michel -Edouard Leclerc on BFMTV/RMC this Monday April 29.
“Food industry
has made a profit from this inflation.
At the microphone of
BFMTV/RMC
this Monday, April 29, Michel-Edouard Leclerc, president of the strategic committee of the E. Leclerc centers, is scolding the manufacturers, criticizing them in particular for their lack of transparency.
“If they had told us the truth,
there wouldn’t have been this inflation,” he said. “Products for dogs and cats, petfoods, it’s incredible the margins they’ve produced,” continued the distributor. “All the major agri-food companies have released
margins of up to 15 or 20% during the crisis
and while consumers had to pay increases in pasta or increases in items of 30 to 40%”, lamented Michel-Edouard Leclerc. As a reminder, the increase in food prices reached
21% in two years.
“If the manufacturers had told us the truth,
we would have negotiated the margin more harshly
industrialists”, he again affirmed, ensuring that he accepted the price increases because he “thought not to affect the agricultural margin”. “You saw correctly, two reports from the general inspectorate of finances, a report ECB:
inflation has mainly fed the margins of agro-industry, not farmers”,
indicated Michel-Edouard Leclerc.
