Ubisoft has announced the postponement ofAssassin’s Creed Shadowsoriginally scheduled for November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025. This new opus, highly anticipated by fans, was to introduce us to feudal Japan by making us embody two protagonists: Yasuke, a samurai, and Naoe, a shinobi assassin. However, the French publisher announced that it needed more time to refine these new features.

Marc-Alexis Côté, vice-president and executive producer of the saga, explained that the game still needed adjustments to offer an optimal experience. This postponement follows lessons learned from the development of Star Wars Outlaws released this summer. The publisher explains that it wants to further improve its titles before releasing them.

This postponement also comes with some good news for PC gamers: Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on Steam on the day of its release. Finally, Ubisoft is abandoning the traditional Season Pass model: all players will have access to the first expansion for free if they pre-order the game. This decision seems to be part of a desire to improve the sometimes difficult relations between the publisher and the community of players.

The postponement ofAssassin’s Creed Shadows comes in a difficult context for Ubisoft. The French publisher has in fact decided to cancel its participation in the Tokyo Game Show (TGS), the major Japanese video game trade show. In addition to these announcements, Ubisoft’s share price could further collapse on the CAC 40.
