Mbappé betrayed PSG, Sarkozy was taken back by Larqué

On Saturday, Nicolas Sarkozy, former President of the Republic and fervent supporter of Saint-Germain, criticized Kylian Mbappé for the way he left PSG at the end of his contract last June to join Real Madrid.

Former President Nicolas Sarkozy has spoken out about the striker’s decision to join Real Madrid, while expressing reservations about the way he left the Parisian club.

“Kylian gave seven years to the club, we must not forget that. He gave us extraordinary emotions. He illustrates what we all have as temptation: we always think that the grass is greener elsewhere. I can understand that he wanted to leave, I can understand his dream, but I understand more difficultly the way in which he implemented it. But it is his choice,” said the former head of state.

Sarkozy not “irreproachable”

This Tuesday, RMC consultant Jean-Michel Larqué reacted strongly by attacking Sarkozy for his remarks, expressing his disagreement with the opinion of the former head of state.

“I really like receiving advice or criticism from someone who is beyond reproach. I’m not sure that today, Nicolas Sarkozy, who has spent many hours in police stations, is able to judge the way in which a player left his favourite club. It’s not good,” the former Saint-Etienne player lashed out.
