Smoke coming from a cell in section D of the Roanne detention center was spotted on Tuesday, September 24 at around 3:15 p.m., allowing the alarm to be raised quickly. Guards intervened to control the start of the fire, while alerting the firefighters.
A burning blanket behind the cell door
Around twenty firefighters from the Roanne barracks finished completely containing the flames, which came from a blanket placed by the prisoner at the threshold of his cell.
