The 6th day of Ligue 2 delivered its verdict, this Tuesday, September 26. And the championship has a new leader: Bastia, undefeated until now, gave way on the pitch of Dunkirk (2-1). It is therefore Metz, who crushed Martigues (6-0), who takes back the reins. Bad operation on the other hand for Guingamp, second in L2 before this day, and who could not do anything against Paris FC (2-0). The EAG finds itself 7th.

With 24 goals scored in total, the evening was not short of twists and turns. Here’s what you need to know.
Laval turns the situation around, Lorient and Guingamp powerless
The Stade Lavalloisled until the 70th minute of play on the Rodez pitch, was frankly badly embarked on its trip. But the Tango knew how to react, at the very end of the match. It was first a penalty awarded in the 76the minute and converted by Tchokounté, who put Laval back on track. The striker then scored twice (83′), finally giving his team the lead. Mayenne’s awakening was not yet complete, since Vargas, on a free kick from the left, planted the third goal in the side netting. In ten minutes, Laval had completely reversed the trend and left Rodez with three precious points (1-3).
Conversely, Lorientwho were on a draw and a win, were unable to continue their good run. Against Pau, the Merlus even took on water. They first conceded a goal, the only one of the match, by Mboup (34′). Before taking a second blow to the head, with the expulsion of Talbi (41′) for having held back and hindered this same Mboup at the edge of the area on a goal opportunity. The FCL never recovered and conceded a logical defeat (1-0).
The same feeling of helplessness on the EAG side. Guingamp, Bastia’s runner-up before this match, sank against Paris FC (2-0), losing at the same time its second place overall (7th). Best attack in the championship before the match, the Costarmoricans lacked rhythm and offensive capabilities. Too bad.
Caen soars thanks to Mendy
The SM Caenwho had finally opened his victory counter against Ajaccio last week (1-0), confirmed: thanks to a double from Alexandre Mendy (13′, 81′), Malherbe won against Amiens (2-1), signing his second victory of the season. The striker, who has played very little this summer and since the restart, scored his third goal of the season this Tuesday evening, in four games. This success allows SM Caen to move up to 13e place (he was pointing at 15e before this day).

Team of the evening: Metz, new leader
The relegated L1 team made short work of the promoted team: Metz devoured Martigues, with a very heavy final score of 6 goals to 0. The Senegalese player Cheikh Sabaly also scored a hat-trick. It is already his seventh goal this season (in six matches). This success, combined with the defeat of the former leader Bastia, allows Metz to regain the lead in the championship (12 points). Bastia slips to sixth position (11 points).
