It was a day of celebration this Sunday, September 22 at the ROC. On the occasion of the inclusive sports day organized in Louvain-la-Neuve, ceci-rugby and Mixar activities took place at the ROC before a gala match between the Ottintois seniors and the Irish from Banbridge RFC.
There were a lot of people and a great atmosphere at Boulevard Baudouin Ier on Sunday. The ROC had pulled out all the stops to welcome the Irish from Banbridge RFC for an international friendly match.
As a curtain raiser, the programme included inclusive sessions of céci-rugby and MIXAR, with the presence of Namur and Boitsfort, among others.
On tour in Europe, Banbridge then gave the ROC a reply. A match won for the record by the Ottintois (48-21).
“We go onto the pitch with the little ones holding our hands, these are sensations we are not used to in championship matches in Belgium. It’s nice before the start of the season,” Marius Pignol told TV Com.
“We had called up about 45 players,” explained co-coach Stéphane De Vos. “It was complicated to rotate them for the entire match since it was two 40-minute games. But everyone got a bit of playing time. That was kind of the goal, it’s a bit of a party today.
