The 19-year-old man stabbed Saturday evening at a gas station in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district has finally succumbed to his injuries.

The Montreal Police Department confirmed early this afternoon that the young adult had died, but did not comment further on the circumstances of the attack since the investigation is still ongoing.

According to our sources, a small group of individuals rushed towards a 27-year-old man to beat him with squeegees in an attempt to rob him, but the latter nevertheless defended himself.

The fight reportedly broke out and in the exchange of blows one of the young attackers, 19-year-old Rassim Ladjrafi, was stabbed.

Around 7 p.m., the SPVM was dispatched to the intersection of Arcand and Robert-Jurie streets, near the Langelier metro station.

When the police arrived, the young man, who was seriously injured, was accompanied by his twin brother Rostane Ladjrafi.

The latter was reportedly arrested and charges are expected to be brought against him in connection with his alleged involvement in the assault and a possible attempted robbery.

The 27-year-old man who was targeted by the alleged robbers has also been arrested and could be charged with murder.

A car was found at the scene with damage.

Last night, Rassim Ladjrafi was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

According to our sources, the young man underwent an operation and later in the evening, the police no longer feared for his life.

However, early today afternoon he suffered complications and was later pronounced dead.
