In September last year, Phot’Audace had left its mark on the Bazadais with its “Once upon a time in the South West”. This year for the Heritage Days, Ève Vercel and her team worked on a project to shoot a film in almost real conditions, on the theme of the Great War, allowing the twenty or so registered amateur photographers to exercise their talents. The meeting is set for this Sunday, September 22 at 8 am.

The theme chosen for this photo workshop is “14-18 a shared moment of the intimate life of the poilus”. Investing the half-moon, in front of the Présidial, the photographers will follow the shooting of a film with a small team of cinema professionals gathered around the director, with set designer, costume designer, special effects prop master, makeup artists, assistants, set photographer, camera team, sound, a cast of amateur actors from Bazadais, who will stage moments freely inspired by life at the front in its daily life, outside of combat.

Ève Vercel explains: “Beyond the climbs to the front, the poilus had long moments of free time. It is this everyday life, in the trenches, which will give rise to several small scenes, the hairdresser, writing letters to loved ones, laundry, sewing, making objects from shell casings, the presence of rats, etc. All this will be staged, in different settings recalling different slices of the poilu’s intimate life, feminine presence, bringing softness and comfort, of the nurse or the canteen worker, in a reconstructed trench on Place de la Cathédrale and under the arcades of Bazas.”
