Frankly, the place is worth more than a glance! And luckily, the place, full of history, is among the buildings that can be visited during the Heritage Days in Auxerre! Former home of the poet Marie NOEL – her work is to be rediscovered constantly! -, the Maison des Illustres, headquarters of the learned and dynamic Société des Sciences Historiques et Naturelles de l’Yonne (SSHNY), will open its doors this Saturday, September 21. For a bucolic walk tinged with nostalgia…
AUXERRE : Not long ago, it was the great Marie-Christine BARRAULT (the godmother of the divine habitation!) who was still performing there on the stage of the open-air theater during readings for which she has the secret and the talent to find the right tone and the emotion to transmit to her audience. What can we also say about the excellent performance of the “Trio Chimères”, with its two virtuoso instrumentalists, Chloé DUCRAY on the harp, Jean-Lou LOGER on the cello and the soprano, Roxane CHALARD, embellished with the readings of this great resistance fighter that was Michel BERSTEIN, by the deep voice of Alain GRIVEL, from the theater and… from teaching! As for “L’Affaire CHOPIN”, with texts co-written by Mathilde and Marie-Sophie MOSNIER, set to music to the composer’s tunes, it was played…inside the said house, disrupted by downpours and heavy impertinent downpours!
Saturday, let it be said, and whatever the weather conditions, the opportunity to discover the Maison des Illustres will be possible! Heritage Day will thus offer the Maison de Marie NOEL a little (justified) radiance during visits scheduled for small groups of fifteen people, every three quarters of an hour!
The curious and eager to discover will appreciate the open-air theatre built on the site of the former garden of the ROUGET family, the summer lounge and the conference room of the Société des Sciences Historiques et Naturelles de l’Yonne, the apartment where the famous poet lived as well as the music room and her small bedroom. Two exhibitions will also be visible there: one devoted to caricature covering a period from 1800 to 1944 and the other, dedicated to Michel BERNSTEIN, whose memory is present in many memories…
