Seine-et-Marne: the rodeo and the chase end in an accident

Seven minutes is short but it’s enough to cause drama. This is what could have happened on Tuesday evening, in the streets of Lognes, Croissy-Beaubourg and Torcy, due to the fault of a 19-year-old driver, at the wheel of a Renault Clio. It was 8:45 p.m. The young man started by screeching the tires of the car, in which two of his friends were. Engine noise, passenger sitting on the door: the scene, which takes place on rue des Campanules, in Lognes, is filmed by spectators.

Until a patrol from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) from the Torcy police station wanted to check the driver, who refused to comply and took off, taking all the risks. It will cross Croissy-Beaubourg, where it hits a pole, before arriving at the Torcy RER station. Still with the police on their heels. There, the car hits metal barriers and ends its course on the left side, avenue Jean-Moulin.

Luckily, none of the three passengers in the Clio were injured. The motorist was then arrested, then placed in police custody at the Torcy police station, for the car rodeo, refusing to comply and endangering the lives of others. And there, surprise for the investigators: the car is not stolen, it belongs to his sister. Not to mention that the young man did indeed have a driving license and was very little known to the police. The simplest thing would therefore have been to… stop at the sight of the BAC. The Meaux public prosecutor’s office decided to extend his police custody on Wednesday evening.
