Natural Import

Natural Import has announced a partnership with a new lime brand, says Audrik Victoria, the Portuguese fruit and vegetable trader’s newest team member: “With this initiative, we hope to offer premium limes that meet the needs of today’s European market, where prices are low and quality is rather uncertain.”

The new partnership has allowed Natural Import to increase volumes, explains Audrik Victoria. “Last year, we imported only two containers per week. This year, we have increased our volume to five containers. In order to maintain a constant flow of carefully selected limes, using sustainable farming practices that guarantee a residue-free and tasty product while aiming to meet the demands of the most demanding consumers, we have launched this new partnership.”

As logistics had to overcome some hurdles, a large part of the limes from Brazil arrived at the same time in European ports, explains Audrik Victoria: “Unfortunately, due to the bad weather conditions in August in Brazil, many ships with limes were stuck in the port of Santos. All the cargoes therefore arrived in Europe at the same time, which oversaturated the market and caused prices to drop to 6.00 and 7.00 euros per box in September. We expect the situation to improve in October and for prices to return to the usual range of 9.00 to 10.00 euros per box.

Despite these challenges, Victoria is confident that her business will be able to deliver a successful season in the remaining months. “Anticipating this recovery next month, we are cautiously optimistic that our partnership with this new brand will give us an advantage in the market, with high-quality limes arriving at the right time of the season when prices are rising again.”

“We are also pleased to announce that the Natural Import team will participate as visitors at Fruit Attraction Madrid 2024 this October. Meet us there and learn more about our new partnerships!”
