On September 2, Audi unveiled the third generation of its successful SUV, the Q5. The newcomer sports, like the A5 and A6 e-tron presented during the summer, more fluid and almost Latin lines, while the cabin is much more modern with a double curved slab in keeping with the times. Finally, the engines are evolving thanks to a new PPC platform that allows advanced MHEV Plus micro-hybridizations, while waiting for the plug-in hybrid planned for later.
Read: What price for the new Audi A5 and A5 Avant?
We already knew the prices of some finishes and engines, such as the entry-level Design displayed from €57,550 with the least powerful petrol engine available, the 2.0 TFSI of 204 hp in traction, or €61,470 in diesel of 204 hp. A few weeks after the presentation, the rest of the range is revealed. We discover for example the price difference with the finish with the sporty look S line, displayed from €65,950 with the same engine, or €8,400 more! The Business Executive version, rather intended for professionals, is announced from €64,750 in petrol of 204 hp, or €68,670 with the diesel of the same power.
An SQ5 ultimately more expensive than expected
For its part, the SQ5 sports version has changed price in a few days. Announced at €95,230 during the presentation, it is now displayed from €98,930 on the price brochures and the Audi online configurator. A tidy sum, to which are necessarily added a few options (often grouped into packs) and a big ecological penalty in France (183 to 187 g/km of CO2, i.e. a tax of €28,413 to €37,857) significantly increasing the bill. Note that the other petrol and diesel engines, even with an advanced 48V micro-hybridisation, are displayed between 146 and 167 g/km of CO2, which implies a tax of €1,504 to €6,537 depending on the version and finish chosen.
To avoid the tax in France, you will have to wait for the plug-in hybrid variants of the Q5. These, with 300 hp and 367 hp, are expected a little later in the vehicle’s life cycle. But be careful, because the penalty exemption system for PHEVs could be revised in 2025…
