A 30th Anniversary Edition is coming to the entire PS5 and PS5 Pro product line, paying homage to the PS1 by borrowing its iconic design.
In celebration of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary (the PS1 was released on December 3, 1994), Sony is launching a limited edition of the PS5, PS5 Pro, and their accessories, all of which feature the design of the original PlayStation. Enough to tickle the nostalgic heart of all PS1 lovers.
The PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary will be available in a bundle that includes the premium DualSense Edge controller, a DualSense controller, a controller charging station, a disc drive faceplate (sold separately), a vertical stand, as well as an original-style cable connector and some goodies. This bundle is limited to 12,300 copies, a reference to the PS1’s release date (03/12 in American format).
What is the price of the PS5 30th Anniversary?
The PS5 Digital Edition also has its 30th anniversary edition. It has the same accessories as the PS5, except that there is no DualSense Edge or controller charging station. The PlayStation Portal also comes in the colors of the PS1 and can be purchased alone, without the need to invest in a pack. It will also be possible to buy the DualSense 30th Anniversary Limited Edition wireless controller alone.
Pre-orders will open on September 26, 2024 for all products on the official PlayStation website. A PlayStation Network account is required. The PS5 Digital Edition and the DualSense alone will also be available at select retailers, but only from October 10 in the case of the console. Deliveries will begin on November 21.
Sony has not yet announced prices for all these 30th Anniversary editions. Given the manufacturer’s recent pricing policy (increase in the price of the PS5, PS5 Pro without disc drive at 799 euros), we can expect a hefty bill, especially since this is a special edition (and limited in the case of the PS5 Pro) that many collectors will not be able to do without.
