Organized crime: four people arrested in Lévis

Four people were arrested by police Thursday morning in Lévis. Everything suggests that these arrests are linked to the war between criminal groups for control of drug trafficking in Eastern Quebec.

Major crimes investigators from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) of the Lévis City Police Department (SPVL) conducted a search this morning at a residence on rue Saint-Joachim in Lévis.

At the scene, they arrested a man in his twenties. The reasons for his arrest have not been disclosed. He is expected to appear in court later today.

A few hours earlier, the police of SPVL had made other arrests. Around 2:10 a.m. Thursday morning, they arrested three individuals who were getting into a vehicle on Robert-Rumilly Street in Lévis.

On board this vehicle, the police found incendiary substances. The three suspects are aged between 20 and 26 and are known for their membership in the criminal underworld, but their presence in the Quebec region is unusual.

The three individuals will be questioned by investigators during the day. They could be charged with possession of incendiary substances, conspiracy to commit arson and harassment.

Since some of them already had run-ins with the law in other cases, charges related to failure to comply with probation conditions could be added.
