Barcelona is full of festivities for this long weekend of La Mercè, the city’s annual festival. In parallel, other events are taking place, such as concerts, gastronomic events and a play. Here’s what to do in Barcelona from September 20 to 24.

Beer Festival

Attention beer lovers, Biergarten is back at Poble Espanyol this weekend! It will take place in the Hivernacle of the Plaza Mayor, in a festive and friendly atmosphere. Thousands of participants will be able to taste a wide variety of beers, no less than twenty, so there will be something for everyone. Gastronomic stands will present the best German specialties.

To become a beer expert, Biergarten offers themed tasting workshops every day. Concerts and DJ sets will liven up the event continuously. For a cultural break, visitors can enjoy freely discovering the Poble Espanyol and its facades inspired by other Spanish cities.

Sleeping Beauty Illuminated Ballet

Responsible Gastronomy Festival

Head to the Ciutadella Park for Terra i Gust, the responsible food festival. From this Friday to this Sunday, many stands will offer an environmentally friendly gastronomic offer, whether through organic or local foods. For example, producers will sell their cheeses, chocolates, ecological drinks and ice creams.

In addition, many Barcelona restaurants are participating and will present an original flagship dish. Between chicken cannelloni and hazelnut béchamel sauce, eggplant pita, fried rice with seasonal vegetables and kimchi, pork cheek brioche with beer and apples, pumpkin ravioli with butter and sage cream and many other dishes will surprise the taste buds.

Several awareness workshops are also being organized. This edition will particularly highlight food waste, sustainable fishing and water. Terra i Gust has also planned concerts to ensure a pleasant atmosphere in the bucolic setting of the park.
