Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has warned his team-mates not to underestimate Atalanta ahead of their Champions League clash on Thursday night, insisting they “know what they’re doing, they’ve been doing it for many years now”.

The Italy international will return to his homeland with Arsenal for Thursday’s Champions League clash at the newly renovated Gewiss Stadium.

The Bergamo stadium has recently reopened after the latest renovation work on the Curva Sud, but Jorginho has already played there after the first round of refurbishments were completed a few years ago.

“When they built their new stadium, I played here with the national team,” he told TNT Sports.

“It was different when I played here in the league, very different. But it’s always a tough place to play, against a really strong team, that’s what we expect for tomorrow.”

The former Napoli midfielder then explained what Arsenal could expect from Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, and was asked if they had changed much since their last Serie A game.

“To be honest, the style of play is not that different because they work together, man to man all over the pitch and with the same coach for many years. It is a place where I expect there to be fire and a really physical game.

“You shouldn’t underestimate them because they are a very strong and well-trained team. They know what they are doing because they have been doing it for many years now. They are a very good team to be wary of.”
