After the dismissal of Brian Riemer, the question is how to proceed at the Brussels club, where Jesper Fredberg wants to take his time to appoint a new head coach. In the meantime, David Hubert will even be in charge of running the club.
A surprising decision since our 36-year-old compatriot only joined the U18s last summer. However, he has now been transferred to the first team, where Riemer’s assistants have all been allowed to stay on board. At least for the time being, because their fate at Lotto Park hangs by a thread.
What about assistants?
“Their future will only be decided when a new coach arrives,” notes Het Nieuwsblad. As soon as Riemer has a permanent successor, Jan Michaelsen, Roel Clement and Yannick Euvrard could also be dismissed. However, Fredberg seems to think otherwise for the time being.
“We have a good staff around the A team. I really respect the expertise we have within the team,” said the general manager of sports, who chose not to appoint any of them as ad-interim T1 for the same reason. “It seemed logical to me not to change much in this area.”
Riemer leaves, Hubert arrives
“David has had a very long career and knows the club. He is a talented young coach. We believe in him and are sure he can help us,” he added about the choice of Hubert, who will most certainly have to take charge of the upcoming matches against Charleroi and Ferencvaros.
It remains to be seen whether he will be able to manage this period successfully, and for how long he will be on board. Although he has virtually no experience in the field, Hubert, who only ended his active career last summer with RSCA Futures, is now preferred to Clément and his teammates.
