For their Champions League debut this season, Manchester City players donned their new jersey for the first time on Wednesday against Inter Milan. Called “Definitely City”, it was created in homage to the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ legendary album, Definitely Maybeand partly drawn by Noel Gallagher.
A clash at the top for the first day of the Champions League: Manchester City and Inter Milan met on the Etihad Stadium pitch on Wednesday evening. And for the occasion, the Citizens did not play with their usual light blue jersey, but wore for the first time the one called “Definitely City”, which the club had revealed the release of on September 12.
This jersey pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of the album Definitely Maybe by Oasis, released in 1994. Its colors are reminiscent of those of the album cover and the last scene in the advertising clip shared by the club reproduces the album cover with Pep Guardiola and Ederson in place of the Gallagher brothers.
Noel Gallagher designed the font
One of the two brothers, Noel, also participated in the design of the jersey. A die-hard Manchester City fan – he was for example present in the supporters’ kop during the 37th day of the Premier League last season -, the musician designed the font of the Citizens’ fourth jersey.
“Manchester music legend and lifelong City fan Noel Gallagher has designed the font for Manchester’s 2024-25 away kits. His script can be seen on the back of the team’s shirts worn in all Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup matches,” the English club said on its website.
To get it, fans must pay a minimum of 80 pounds (around 95 euros) and up to 96 pounds (around 114 euros) if they want flocking.
