Bayern Munich were emphatic on Tuesday night as Manuel Neuer’s side scored an incredible nine goals, as the Germans strolled past a player Leeds tried to sign on deadline day.

Harry Kane scored four times and went above 50 goals for Bayern Munich in his 50th appearance, scoring a hat-trick of penalties as well as a tap in. New signing Michael Olise also scored twice for the Germans.

Vincent Kompany has made an excellent start since his surprise move from Burnley to Bayern, winning all four games in charge so far and scoring a huge 20 goals including a 6-1 win over newly-promoted Kiel.

One player Bayern came up against on Tuesday night was Croatian sensation Martin Baturina, a player some eagle-eyed Leeds fans will recall from the drama that was deadline day with The Whites linked.

Neuer praises Martin Baturina amid links with late Leeds move

Daniel Farke said he wanted a new no.10 the day before the deadline. They failed to get a playmaker in at Elland Road as competition for Brenden Aaronson, but Leeds reportedly made a bid for Martin Baturina.

Indeed, The Whites made a £25m bid for the Croatia international and Dinamo Zagreb accepted the offer if reports from Baturina’s home country are to be believed. But, Baturina thing to turn down a late move.

Instead, he has remained at Dinamo Zagreb and will now be playing in the Champions League this term. Ahead of Bayern’s 9-2 win over Zagreb last night, legendary goalkeeper Neuer praised Baturina.

He said: “We know their strengths and weaknesses. It is always helpful to play quickly, the right positions. We know that no.10, Martin Baturina, is a strong player, and Bruno Petković in attack also brings power.”

Baturina expected to make move but not to Leeds United

Over the next 12 months, it would come as no surprise if Baturina makes a move away from Zagreb and to one of Europe’s top-five leagues. His reputation has already outgrown Leeds, while in the second tier.

Already, the 21-year-old has clocked up 128 appearances for Zagreb. He has had a hand in 48 goals, with five assists coming in his eight outings this season though he was unable to contribute against Bayern.

Big clubs from all over Europe are already interested with Atletico Madrid, Roma and Fiorentina making offers in the summer but Baturina choosing to remain in his home nation. A move though, is expected.
