This opening goal put Real back on track after a first half in which the Madrilenians had shown a pale face against Stuttgart’s much sharper players, only slowed down by an imperial Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian goalkeeper began his festival by deflecting a shot from Jamie Leweling from a tight angle, before flying on a curling shot from Enzo Millot (15th), already very close to scoring with a shot that went very close to the Madrid post (8th).

Courtois also showed his anticipatory qualities by interposing himself with authority in front of Angelo Stiller, after a combination of great beauty between the German players (16th). Beaten by a shot from Deniz Undav blocked by Carvajal in the 28th minute, the Real goalkeeper was this time saved by his crossbar. The Madrilenians were then overtaken in the impact by uninhibited and collectively seductive Germans.
